DEST and ForBio course: Basics of Taxonomy - describing, illustrating and communicating biodiversity

 

DEST (Distributed European School of Taxonomy) and ForBio are co-organizing the Basics of Taxonomy Course, co-funded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

This two week course gives a theoretical overview and hands on experience about different methodologies on how to describe, illustrate and communicate biodiversity. The course will cover the following topics, each taught by an expert in the matter:

• Digital drawing
• Scientific illustration
• Scientific writing and communication
• Biodiversity informatics: new technologies and big data
• DELTA

Criteria for selection will be scientific merit, motivation and usefulness of the training course for the applicants. Students who complete this course will receive a 5 ECTS course certificate. Click here for more information about the course.

Please register for the course through the DEST website before June 1st 2017. There is a limited number of places available.

ForBio will cover the registration fee for all accepted ForBio members. The registration fee includes course attendance, course material, accommodation and meals at the Sven Lovén Centre. In addition, ForBio will cover travel for Norwegian ForBio members.
